Everyone has a list of things to do. But, sometimes, we need to think about the list of don'ts that we need to incorporate into our lives - things like
Don't put off getting a mammogram. It takes 15 minutes and the smoosher machine is not too awful now a days.
Don't let silly grudges damage friendships. Everyone is human and therefore flawed.
Don't believe everything that you hear, or read. If something in your head or heart says it's not true, go with the feeling unless you witness it yourself.
Don't go outside without sunblock. Wrinkles, age spots and little blips of suspicious tissue are just waiting for their opportunity to make an appearance.
Don't forget to check the doors before going to bed. Better safe than sorry.
Don't forget to do your best when doing a job. Doing your best is making each day and how you spend it invaluable.
Don't take the people you love for granted. Love is a gift that we give to others and to ourselves. Our lives are enriched by it.
Don't forget to tell someone you love them. Making someone's heart sing in tune with yours is a pretty fantastic experience.
Don't forget to follow your passion. If you truly love to do something then find a way to do it everyday, even if for only 1 hours a day. It will never be a waste of your time. It will enrich your spirit as well as your mind.
Don't forget to floss. You'll make your dentist happy!
Don't forget to have a colonscopy when you hit 50. The new prep meds are not so horrible and early screening can save your life.
Don't forget to kiss your spouse and kids goodbye or good night. It is just a nice way to send them off with thoughts of love and good wishes.
Don't allow others to determine your worth as a person. That's your job.
Don't give up.
Don't forget to help someone in need. Remember, there but for the grace of God go I.
Don't forget to wish on a star, wish when you blow out your birthday candles, throw a penny in the wishing well, look for 4 leaf clovers. When we do these thing we are putting hope out into the universe. Hope is what gives us the courage to keep going.
Don't take blessings for granted. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a job, a home, a family, health, a friend.
and lastly,
Don't forget to take care of yourself, to put your needs first sometimes. If you don't take care of you, how will you be able to take care of others.
Do you have any 'don'ts' you would like to share?

ReplyDeleteHi B.B. ~~ I like your list of don'ts. My brain isn't good tonight as I tried to take you up on your suggestion that we tell our favorite don't not on your list. The ones I come up with are very trivial so I won't.
ReplyDeleteBut I really did like our list, they are all truths. You did good.
